WhyPark? Great Alternative to Parking - WhyPark.com Review PDF Print E-mail
Written by DN Investor
Saturday, 16 August 2008

They say that content is king and that is the great benefit of using Whypark over traditional domain parking services.  With a traditional parking program you are not allowed to promote or drive traffic to your parked domain.

But with Whypark you get;

  • To choose the keywords that are relevant to your domain name & WhyPark.com adds the relevant information.
  • REAL Content, articles and press releases are displayed on your completely developed web site
  • Fresh content added to your web site daily. The only content that appears on your web site is directly related to the keywords that you've chosen.
  • As a result, close to 20% of all traffic to Whypark.com hosted domain names are repeat visitors.
  • Add value to your domain names. Many domain owners do not have a portfolio of premium domain names and will likely never see a penny from traditional domain parking. By being able to build links to your Whypark sites, promote as a full website and build traffic to your domains, you can increase the value of your domain names.  I have found that many of the parking sites are very selective in who they allow to sign-up. Avoid the elitists and go with Whypark
  • You get to add whatever advertising or affiliate links that you like.

For those who are finding their domain name parking revenues are way to low, you may want to try Whypark. Whypark is great for anyone who doesn't have experience in webdesign or want to spend more money additional on a webhost.

For a one time fee of $99, you can host 100 sites. In Whypark you have service provider who offers powerful SEO features and many other great features.

My First Domain Name Auction PDF Print E-mail
Written by DN Investor
Tuesday, 25 March 2008

Move over Sothebys, DN Investor is coming through! My first domain auction is under way on Sedo.com . I have been negotiating with a couple interested buyers for watchlivefootball.net and it will be interesting to see how the auction pans out.

The market for online television is rapidly expanding and highly competitive so this domain should be a good one for anyone wanting to develop it for revenue. I have plenty other sites to develop and figured I wouldn't mind selling it. It has strong keywords and is a commonly keyed phrase in search engines.

You can check out the domain auction here: watchlivefootball.net

Sedo is where I currently have my domains parked. It doesn't seem to give the highest pay-outs but it is the easiest to sign-up with. I've applied to a couple other parking sites, but I'm still waiting to hear back from them.

Over the next few days, I will be e-mailing other website owners who have a similar interest to let them know about the auction. I am hopeful it will generate some more bids.

UPDATE: The domain sold for £100. I'm reasonably happy with the result, I feel I could have made a little more if I'd managed to find a second bidder but I still made a handy profit.

Why Invest in Domain Names? PDF Print E-mail
Written by DN Investor
Saturday, 22 March 2008
Why would anyone want to invest in domain names? Surely that sort of business is for pasty-faced geeks who wear 2-inch thick glasses and never see the light of day? (Ok, so I've described myself, except I dont wear glasses)

Why get into domaining? Well there's no reason other than I want to earn a shipload of money. Quite simply I want to generate a steady stream of income. Careful domain name investment will bring a good return for my money.

The internet has been profitable for me. I have made good money off a variety of different ventures. Much of these profits were invested in the stock market. Unfortunately I entered the market at the wrong time and lost quite a lot of money as a result of the recent sub-prime mortgage collapse. Though the market is bound to bounce back at some stage, it doesnt look like happening in the next few months. So I made the decision to get rid of my margin loan and cut my losses by selling all of my stocks.

Since then, I've been looking for new ways to generate money online and I've settled on domain investment. I'd always tinkered with web-design and had even purchased a few domains on occassion. But in the last month particularly, I've made domain investment my game.

A few positives I can see in this industry:
  • The internet is still a rapidly growing medium and market.
  • Domains offer good returns as a long-term investment as well providing the opportunity for revenue making in the short-term.
  • There is also a good chance of making massive return in a short period of time. For example, fund.com recently sold for $10 million.

Now I don't own anything quite as lucrative as fund.com and, I am not expecting to get rich over night. I'm already realising there is a lot to learn if I am going to be successful in this venture.

I am working towards several aims for this project.

  •  I want to develop a good portfolio of domains. Since, I am still finding my way in this industry, I just want to have a smallish sized portfolio of 200-300 good domains.
  •  I want to learn how to trade domains for a profit.
  •  I want to monetize and develop my domains so that by the end of 2008 I am generating an average of $55 a day in revenue. This equates to $20 000 a year.

To do well in this industry, you must work hard and make sensible decisions. I have already made several mistakes. I'm realising that when it comes to domaining, good information is crucial. The more you research, the more you will be able to make informed decisions and the less mistakes you will make.

In this blog, I will keep you up to date with my successes, my mistakes and the lessons I learn along the way. I hope that my experiences will be of benefit to you.
